Bitcoin breaks new record and reaches $50,000

Bitcoin broke a new record on Tuesday (16), reaching the $50,000 mark.

The cryptocurrency has risen more than 20% in the past week, since electric car maker Tesla announced it has $ 1.5 billion in bitcoin and will accept it as payment.

The currency has risen more than 60% in the year to date and more than 1,100% since March last year, according to Reuters.

Data compiled by Bloomberg shows that Bitcoin ended 2020 at around $29,000.
